Went deep dropping on this Cinco D'Mayo Saturday. Crew was myself, Greg,
Naved, and Troy. Left the dock at 6 am into some bumpy east wind head
seas but slogged it out to the deep. We had grouper and golden tiles on
our minds in the morning so we spent some time probing the walls of the
Norfolk Canyon from 120 fathoms on up (6 feet per fathom for you not
anglers). With only a few dog sharks to show for our effort, we moved to
the blueline tile grounds. Found a nice class of tiles from 6 lbs to 14
lbs and no dogs. Finally, not cranking in dogs. With just 2 drifts in
less than 2 hours, we put our limit in the box of 7 each. Not really wanting to crank seabass, we spent the rest of the day probing the walls of the canyon trying to figure out the grouper thing but it was not to be this trip. It was a great trip and great crew. Like to see some blue water show up soon to go after some tuna and tiles. Video from the day. Cinco Tiles Video.
