| Could not resist the perfect marine forecast so decide
to make a run to the deep for tile and seabass. Put together a
great crew with Don and Brandon Honeycutt and Erik (Lurker).
Departed Saltponds inlet at 5 am to a flat calm bay and pretty much flat
all the there and back. Linked up with our buddy boat Craig on the
Mary E and we worked over the tile grounds hard getting our limit of
tiles.
Bad news is the horn dogs are still there in force and bigger, fatter
than ever. Working with Craig, it took us a good part of the
morning to find the areas that had less dogs with more tiles and seabass.
One even gave birth right there in the boat.

No matter where we dropped, almost as soon as you hit bottom at 300
feet, we had a fish on, either a dog, seabass, tile, or chopper blue.
We dropped with squid, albacore, shrimp, and bluefish but the squid
seemed to do the best with the tiles and seabass.
Don's knothead.

Double tile for Mike and Brandon.

Brandon's tile and the biggest of the day at 11 lb citation size.

Erik's nice knothead.

Erik's fat tile.

We caught a bunch of chopper bluefish and kept some for bait and
released most.

Limit of tiles and a mess of bass and some bluefish for bait for
later.

Could not ask for better offshore weather for a February day.
Thanks Craig with the Mary E for buddy boating with us and finding the
small pockets of fish between the hordes of dogs. Thanks to my
crew, Don, Brandon, and Erik for working your tails off to bring home
some meat. We will all be sore tomorrow from non-stop cranking all
day.
